It’s been way too long since I did any drawing outside, so I gathered together paints, coloured pencils and sketchbook and sat on the patio to sketch the profusion of flowers in my terracotta pots. I was surprised at how rusty my drawing skills had become. Painting a decorative design onto a small item of jewellery is completely different to observing and recording what you see in front of you in the open air.
So I’ve signed up for 3 botanical painting courses online with Dianne Sutherland at https://www.botanicalart-online.com In addition to this I’ve become a Tawny Owl with the hugely talented Sarah Morrish at https://www.natures-details.com
These online tutorials should help me to regain some confidence in my observational drawing, and I’ll certainly be throwing myself wholeheartedly into my studies.
I’m hoping that it will also help me to come up with even more ideas for jewellery and I shall certainly have a busy summer!
